This design and construction project of Mr. Limmer’s house is located on the outskirts of Santiago, towards the Los Andes foothills.
The house –made up of cubic volumes- is erected upon a pronounced slope. The main access to the house is on the second level, which possesses the majority of the house program. On the other hand, the first level has a small interior area as well as an exterior area, which issheltered under a large projected volume, provided by the second floor.
This projected volume is achieved by the intersection of a vertical body of armed concrete. This body of concrete serves structural purposes and also operates as the barbecue on the first level and the chimney on the second level.
The volume of the stairs is also made of armed concrete, as is the vertical barbecue-chimney body. Thus the two structures are used as support for the rest of the house, which is re-dressed in wood.
