Rustan is a company which has been dedicated to manufacturing a wide range of signs and signage for over twelve years. From its early beginnings utilizing neon to its use of LED technology today, it has always stood out for its application of technology contingency.
An increased demand for labor necessitated new offices, production areas, storage and shipping. A piece of property became available in the municipality of Santiago Centro.
The location has an existing house, framed in the language of continuous neighborhood walls.
The proposal is put forth for a steel structure that covers the entire property and projects above the existing building, which would have a role in the building´s facade.
To reflect the passage of time the project will enhance the Art Deco style of the original building; slab decking with a glass front closure will be put in place. The result sharply contrasts two distinct moments separated in time, but placed together in the present.
Among the company´s products are solar collectors for heating water, which operate under optimum conditions from a 30 ° tilt. With this in mind, the face of the roof, which points to the north will be filled with the company´s own collectors and the water will be used in various processes of production.
The south side of the roof will be covered with transparent modules. This will also use the sun as a direct energy source, but in this case simultaneously illuminating interior spaces. This particular orientation allows the passage of light but not direct sunlight, which prevents excessive heating of the interior.
On the second level of the office zone are the design, sales and management departments. The reception area, meeting room and production offices are located on the first floor.
The production area allows a ¾ truck to pass into the interior, where a two level interior building is also located, with space for storage, dining and other staff services.
