This remodeling Project consisted on the transformation of an oldapartment, located in a four story building on a small and undulating street of Providencia (Santiago). The buildings of this neighborhood all follow a classic line of design and have a maximum height of five floors.
This 90 m2 apartment was originally subdivided into a two bedrooms, a service room, a kitchen and a living-dining room. The purpose of the remodeling was to create one, large space that could incorporate all the housing functions. In spite of the uniformity of the space, different sheltered areas were created for the kitchen, bedroom, living room and dining room. To emphasize the original parquet floors of the apartment, the rest of the furniture was designed in a contemporary style and with no wood or wooden material. All of the furniture has “legs”, so they don’t rest upon the floor, but are elevated and accentuate the totality of the parquet floors.
